Jose Ignacio and other places that used to be secret

I have had a serious love affair with Argentina and Uruguay ever since I was lucky enough to visit both places this past year.   I would absolutely live in Buenos Aires, currently my favorite city in the world.. and, if I lived there, I would spend my holidays in Jose Ignacio, on the coast of Uruguay, and at the Estancias in the middle of the country, preferably riding horses and swimming in the river!

Jose Ignacio is a peaceful, beautiful haven which is like a Montauk to Punta del Este's Hamptons vibe.  When we were there over the winter holidays, dining at the amazing Los Negros restaurant, Kenny, Jeremy and I were talking about how amazing and gorgeous the beaches are in Jose Ignacio, and loving the fact that there were so few Americans who new about it...
SCRREEEEEEEEECH!!!!!
What?
The Setai is building in Jose Ignacio?  I mean, I love the hotel and all.. in Miami Beach.. but Jose Ignacio?  It's just..so peaceful.  Does it really need construction?  Apparently, money talks, baby!
And, can we talk about the fact that the Setai co-founder literaly took my words out of my mouth while describing the serenity?
Oh well.. I suppose I couldn't keep it ALL to myself.. but wow, when it rains, it pours!

The newest addition to José Ingacio, scheduled to open late this year, is the Setai Club - sister property to the Miami Beach hotel of the same name whose club members, including Lenny Kravitz and Heidi Klum, reportedly pay an initial membership fee of $300,000 and $7,800 a year in dues.

Michael Breene, a co-owner of the Setai, said of José Ignacio, "It's one of the most pristine places I've been to. I imagine it's what Montauk was like 30 years ago: rural countryside meets the ocean. There's laid-back dining, great weather and a surfing element as well." Mr. Breene said the new Setai would be intimate and environmentally minded, (think exclusive thatched roofed bungalows) with a small spa.

Well, as long as it brings more tourism and money into Urugauy, I'll support it.. any secret places YOU would like to share??
