Forbidden Hollywood Movies.. about some daring women!

Now, who doesn't love a great movie?  One that makes you think..one that you enjoy.. one that is a reflection of the time it was made...

Well, FYI, in case you didn't know, Miami Vice is NOT NOT NOT a good movie!!  It's HORRIBLE!!!!  And, like, they didn't even film in Miami..at all.  So, don't rent it.

But, that's a lame topic I won't waste any more time on.. as I have an even better topic- cool movies from the 30s!

There was a doc special on these films, which were made before Hollywood imposed a set of rules and regulations on propriety, (they are called "pre-code") so I thought I'd share my favorites:

Like, Greta Garbo as a bisexual Swedish Queen in Queen Christina:

or Frisco Jenny, about an unwed mother who ends up running her own brothel in San Francisco during the depression!

Blondie Johnson, about a woman who Father makes her a prostitute..so she leaves him, gets an office job, and sleeps her way to the top!

And then there's Ladies They Talk About, with Barbara Stanwyck as a bank robber!

And then, one of my favorites, Murder by Vanity... with a full performance (Vegas style- roaring twenties- with feathers and dancers) of a song about Marijuana!!  (remember, this is pre-Prohibition!)
