you know what? It's time to STOP using FUR!!!!

Okay, I already think Jay-Z is a complete tool.  Let's just get that out of the way.  But now, I have even more reason to think that!
Seriously, though, please don't buy fur!  Don't buy ANYTHING with fur!!!!!  I have three jackets that are vintage and from the 70's - and I am still debating whether I should wear them.  This incident is just the tip of the iceberg- do you think it's only Jay-Z and Puff Daddy who have no idea where the fur is from?  Gross.  Unless you live in Russia or Northern Canada or Mongolia, fur just comes off as a little... callous.  Just a thought.

FORBIDDEN FUR

January 18, 2007 — NOW the fur is flying over Jay-Z's clothing line. The Humane Society says the "faux fur" on his Rocawear "Hunter" jackets is actually raccoon-dog fur, which is sometimes obtained by skinning the animal alive. Sean Combs used the same fur on one of his Sean John coats, but yanked them last month. A Rocawear rep told us, "We were not aware that our product included raccoon-dog materials. We have immediately instructed all manufacturers and licensees that no product can be produced using this fur. In addition we have removed those items from our Web site."

Okay, it's not a yellow lab, but it is still a dog.

Raccoon Dog

Raccoon Dog
Despite the fact that the raccoon dog, Nyctereutes procyonoides, looks, unsurprisingly, like a raccoon, and does not bark, it is indeed a member of the canid family. Known as the Ussurian raccoon, it was introduced into Russian fur farms in the 1920s. Since the raccoon dog frequently carries rabies, its proliferation in the wild has been closely monitored and discouraged.
