Eat Green Food, people!!

Six Arguments for a Greener DietBuy the Book Americans eat what might be called an all-consuming diet. Each day we're fed over 1 billion pounds—and one trillion calories—of food. Our agricultural system consumes enormous quantities of fuel, fertilizers, and pesticides to produce the grains, meat and poultry, and fruits and vegetables that feed a country of nearly 300 million people. It consumes enormous tracts of land and quantities of water—not just for growing food for people, but for producing food for livestock. And ultimately, a diet so high in animal products and relatively low in whole grains, fruits, and vegetables, ultimately consumes the consumer: Diet-related diseases account for hundreds of thousands of premature deaths each year.

Eating Green: A New Project of CSPI
A diet more based in healthful, plant-based foods, and leaner as opposed to fattier meat, poultry, and dairy foods, can lead to extra years of healthy living. Happily, that very same diet leads to much less food poisoning, environmental damage, and farm animal suffering. CSPI's new Eating Green project will educate Americans to move their diets in this direction. To launch the project, CSPI has published Six Arguments for a Greener Diet—a careful review of the scientific literature that provides thoughtful advice to consumers and policymakers alike.
