Organic Wines from Argentina!

When I was in Maine, I made a new friend from Big Fish who worked on a vineyard in Argentina!  Yummy!  And, he was sweet enough to bring over some vino for an impromtu wine tasting. now, we DID have two bottles, so I don't, umm. remember the wine (it was from Mendoza!).. but I thought that I would give you a little info on the organic wine that I buy from Argentina alll the time- at Wild Oats!  So go over there and get yourself organic, you winos, you.. and enjoy!!

Origin: Central valley of Mendoza – District of La Paz.

Climate: semi-desert with wide temperature ranges.

Land: sandy with high refraction.

Irrigation: as needed.

Vine production: controlled by mesh for protection against hail.

Harvest: manual in 14-18 kg boxes.

Wine-making process: selection on a quality control table, controlled stem removing and milling, conduction under cold conditions with peristaltic pumps, classical maceration in stainless steel tanks, with daily remounting, tasted by tasting, pneumatic pressing.

Tasting: ruby red wine, with very attractive deep-red tints, medium strength, annual consumption.
Very attractive aroma with red fruits aftertaste, spices such as black pepper and pit nut notes. Good balance in the mouth with balanced acidity from mild and sweet tannins.
Perfect to be served with red meat, pasta with seasoned sauce and half-hard cheese.



 


 

. Because as from the production of the grapes up to the winemaking process, it is based on the application of a set of techniques which do not allow the use of chemical products.

. Because in order to produce the raw material, the ecosystem biological balance is intensified by favoring the presence of microorganisms which are typical of the fauna and of the environment to enhance fertility in the long run.

. Because spices and varieties are chosen according to their adaptation to the environment and to the resistance to plagues and diseases.

. Because the control carried out by the certifying organization lets anyone find the origin, nature and quantities of supplies, additives and other substances involved in the whole wine-making process.

. Because it is produced in a clean and neat environment avoiding any contamination whatsoever.

. Because it is intended for a healthy diet pursuant to IFOAM (International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movement) regulations worldwide.
