Fires dying down... 500,000 acres burned!

Well, first there was barely any coverage. NOW, you can't turn on a channel without seeing the fires on the news.
really, though- almost 500,000 acres of land has burned!!! Wow! Good thoughts to everyone over there.. Lots of love to some of my California peeps..
You know what, though? Do you ever feel like the the press just tries SOOO hard to make the situation seem WORSE? Whenever we have a blip of a hurricane on our radar, they just go on, and on, and on, until it's gone, or something awful happens. Boo.
Does anyone else find it strange to watch Arnold Schwarzanegger as Governor?

(oh, and by the way, I met a friend of a friend here in Miami who is one of those fire fighters who goes straight into the thick of it, and he had some CRAZY stories! I think you have to be a little crazy to be that brave..or crazy.. or brave.. )
