So, I"m thinking about going on a walkabout!

hmmm..

So, most of you know that I've traveled a lot.  But, most of the time, I travel for work, or to visit friends.  Ihaven't really done a big trip solo...!!!

so.. i'm thinking about a walkabout .. in Australia!
I've always wanted to go.. and, okay, I DO have friends there, so it will be a visit, too... but it is a long time to be on a plane alone!

Anyhow, I'm going to start looking up great things about Australia, so feel free to send me tips!

Peak of perfection

Cradle Mountain
Wild and wonderful ... in this area of great beauty, the only choice is to get out and see the real world.

THE choice was stark – indulge in a massage and spa treatment or go for a three-hour hike up a mountain, tramping through snow and ice while freezing winds howled.
The decision was obvious - in a region of such beauty it is deemed worthy of World Heritage listing - you'd be mad not to get out and experience it for yourself.

Tasmania's Cradle Mountain is an iconic peak in a wilderness of spectacular vistas, a magnet for bushwalkers and those who enjoy seeing Nature in the raw.

While many photos show it framed by blue skies, Cradle Mountain in the heart of Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park is alpine country - it has been known to snow there on Christmas Day.
In other words, be prepared.

Our arrival at the luxurious Cradle Mountain Chateau coincided with unseasonal snow in the afternoon, making the option of a spa treatment and massage pretty tempting as we sat around a roaring fire discussing possibilities for the morning. However, a browse through the neighbouring Wilderness Gallery before dinner at one of the chateau's two restaurants sealed the deal.
