Beautiful Secret Places in Australia!
well, as you all know, I LOVE the beach. There is nothing that can compare with watching the ocean, whether you're sitting in the sand, surfing the waves, or sailing in a boat... And I have a secret place in Miami Beach, where I go with La Hez. So I was of course very intrigued to see this article...

TASMANIA
Riedle Beach, Maria Island
We have to agree with the park rangers: Maria Island is one of Tasmania's gems and Riedle Beach rivals Tasmania's more famous Wineglass Bay in its beauty. But while Wineglass Bay is as busy as Bourke or Pitt Street on Boxing Day, you'll find hardly another soul at Riedle Beach.
Riedle Bay sits on the eastern side of Maria Island's narrow sandy isthmus. Suck in a lungful of fresh Tasmanian air and head along the wide sandy 5km-long secluded beach. Explore the giant granite rocks at each end of the beach, shift through (but don't take) the myriad of shells on the shoreline.
Once a convict prison, Maria Island is now a national park teeming with wildlife and colonial history and, since it's also car-free, you'll need to either walk or bring a mountain bike with you.
With a bike, you could easily enjoy Riedle Beach on a day trip – it's a 90-minute cycle ride – but since this stunning beach is just one of the many delights of Maria, why not camp for free at French's Farm or Encampment Cove.
Where: Take the 25-minute ferry ride to Maria Island from Triabunna, 85 km north of Hobart. Riedle Beach is a 90-minute cycle (or 4½ hour walk) from Darlington.
More: Maria Island National Park, 03 6257 1420. Check the website for the Maria Island ferry timetable or cal (03) 6257 4772.
