Delicatessen Opens Up in NYC!
Mark is at it again... and here we have the lovely Delicatessen, opened at the old Buffa's Deli (which REALLY needed a makeover) in one of my absolute FAVORITE locations in NY- Lafayette and Prince! Okay, I'm a little biased, as that is the location of my last apartment in NYC...
So here are a couple of reviews.. and once I get to NY, I'll have pics and a review of my own!

DELICATESSEN

adies
with SATC experience will undoubtedly recognize the Chelsea staple
Cafeteria from the pack of restos along Seventh, and owner Mark Thomas
Amadei hopes that his second ventue, Delicattessen, will stand out from
the other NoLiTa eateries. The restaurant opens where there was once Buffa's luncheonette, a greasy-spoon venture that Delicatessen is guaranteed to overshadow. The kitchen serves up international comfort food that is sure to please anyone interested in decent tasting food, but will probably disappoint gourmet foodie snobs (there's just no gastronomy going on here for them).
Chef Doron Wong has cooked everywhere from Singapore and New Jersey, so the man has many different styles of cuisine under his belt and plans to whip out for paying customers. Expect experimental dishes like cheeseburger spring rolls, Reuben fritters, and wonton-wrapped halibut tacos with kimchee sour cream, alongside deli classics like matzo-ball soup and pastrami on rye. Come with an empty stomach and a fresh gym membership.-PB

Welcome to New Deli
Delicatessen Restaurant Opens

Far be it from us to bemoan innovation in the face of tradition.
But we did a split-take when Buffa’s, our beloved Nolita greasy spoon, closed. (The hangover-curing fries! The movie-themed subs! The waitress who let us write our own order tickets!)
It’s been transformed into Delicatessen and opens Friday. Despite its humble name (the owners also did Cafeteria; smell a theme?), the restaurant has all the modern fixings: garage doors that open onto the street, wood plank walls, Terry Richardson polaroids on the menu. There are two lounges downstairs: a sunken glass atrium with graffiti’d walls and a minibar with small bottles.
They’re serving diner-inspired comfort food: short rib Stroganoff, Reuben fritters, and chopped liver.
Yeah, the original owner is still involved.
But we’ll have to come up with a new usual.
