La Barra Cevicheria!
This weekend was really cold. Unbelievably cold. At least for me, the Miami girl. Seriously- after over seven years living in Miami, I thought I could brave a January. I'm with tons of friends- work is inspirational and I am learning an entirely new aspect of trends and retail and fashion.. but (did I say this?) IT'S COLD!
Okay, now that my complaining is out of my system, let's talk about some fun in NYC.
Friday night was an adventure in the L.E.S. Trent (our guest star of the weekend) chose the spot- and it was adorable! It wasn't what we expected- our group tends to head for the darker, more traditional places like Freeman's and La Bottega- but we had some amazing Ceviche! A group of friends from the American School in Mexico City (where my girlfriend Alexandra attended and I visited often- I had a dream of highschool in Mexico but my mother didn't love the idea!) came together to open this sweet, 22-seater on Broome street.
We tried oysters, empanadas, and (of course) a LOT of ceviche- with scallops, shrimp, and snapper. Yum. They were out of Octopus, which was a giant bummer, but the food was fantastic enough that I'll be back for more. This time, though, we'll be there for lunch. Oh- and don't forget to bring your favorite Mexican beer, as they have no bar!
