Bonfire of the Vanities. The plot is timeless!
So I've been reading Bonfire of the Vanities on my recent travels and have enjoyed the plot- it's definitely entertaining! I also love to read books about New York City. When I am In New York, and when I've lived there, I feel at home- and, it's amazing- I don't feel overwhelmed. But then, I read some of these books, and I feel like I must truly live on my own planet Caroline, because there are so many other worlds and lives and imaginations in the city, as well.. all going on at the same time. I guess if you think too much about it, one could easily get lost.
Anyhow, I enjoy this story because the plot is timeless- we seem to always find something to write about greed, and lust, and excess. I find it particularly important during this crazy time that we live in, now!
So... check out the book on Amazon.
The Bonfire of the Vanities: A Novel (Paperback) by Tom Wolfe
Or watch the film, with Tom Hanks, Bruce Willis, and Melanie Griffith! (I'll be watching it tonight!)
