Craigslist Rental Scams- this time, they go after the landlord! REALLY, people??
Geez... so I have a condo in South Beach that I am trying to rent. Not only do I travel a lot, I need a bigger space when I will actually BE in Miami again! So, I put my ad on craigslist. Typically, I never have a problem- the last couple I had staying in my place were totally awesome.
And then this week happened. I have been receiving these weird emails from two people, a "John Conroy" and a "Jennifer Cole," two individuals who have strikingly similar problems with the English language. Which I would not care about other than the fact that one claims to be from Canada and the other from Australia and CALIFORNIA.
Well, after I was suspicious, I started to do some research on the Internet and it turns out that these emails are just some sort of SCAM which just get you to cash their money orders or something, and then wire money into their accounts.
Now, AHEM- I hope that none of my fabulous and intellegent readers would EVER wire money in a situation like that.. but just in case you REALLY want to rent that apartment, and you're feeling a little desperado (we've all been there with a mortgage looming, trust me!).. DON'T.
You could email back and forth with these loonies, though, just for kicks.
I just have to share this latest email (after I responded to the first email, with basic info). Oh my GOD crazy people!!
