What is the perfect shade of blonde for a plus size model?

Well, I usually write about whatever I like- whatever interests me, whatever I think exciting, etc.  But you know what?  Everyone knows how to read content on the Internet, right?  I can't just regurgitate Huffington Post articles to you witha n opinion- though, to be honest, I can't say I won't continue to post fun things that I find online.  Some of the articles are just too hard to resist.

So, what is Miami Style Watch all about, anyway?  Is it about Miami, or is it about me.  Well, since I'm the one writing here, I guess it's about to make some decisions.  How do I want to start 2010?  I have written over one THOUSAND entries in this damn blog, and most of you have no idea how crazy my life is!

What some of you may and may not know is that I am a plus-size model.  I find it amazing that so much attention has been brought to the business, as I've been modeling for eight years.  I only wish, to be honest, that I had learned about it earlier!  Basically, we get to be healthy, and travel, and meet people, all modeling clothes for the average-size woman.  Think Target, Lane Bryant, plenty of European catalogs (women are just built bigger there!).  Not a lot of starving anorexics in our group.

I'm not here to preach about the industry, though.  I'm just going to write about MY experience, as I am no longer the fresh face in the bunch!

But now, at 30, I have to make some changes.  The growing popularity in plus modeling means that I have to work extra hard to look good- you can't just skate by like you do in your 20's.  I think this applies to everyone, not just people working in front of the camera.  Anyhow, this is my detox month- the start of a new decade.  So, first, I have started running.  A lot.  I'll be running a 5K in February.  (post following!).

And the big debate has been.  What to do with Caroline's hair?!!.  YES, it's true.  This is an issue that can actually affect my JOB.  My LIVELIHOOD.   So, obviously, we take it pretty seriously.  I feel so lucky to be a part of an industry that still employs people- my friends, my colleagues- photographers, stylists, models, agents- that I feel like I have a responsibility to work just as hard on my end.

These are what we call "polaroids."  Basically, it shows the client what you look like at present time- no fancy makeup, no re-touching.  Just you, the camera, and the great outdoor light.  They ask you for face-on and for a profile, soooo.. here you go!

I know, I know.  STOP the madness!

When I was studying International Relations at NYU, I had no idea that this business even existed.  When I went into acting at age 21, I couldn't believe the hell it was to audition.  So, I ended up in production- and I loved it!  And then, I moved down to Miami, and started modeling.  And somehow, it's eight years later.  Now, what is my next step?

Coming tomorrow: how does a "plus" girl exercise.  In MIAMI.  Where everyone is perfect?
YOU RUN FAST, that's for sure!!
