Somersault: A topsy turvy film about love and loneliness. Now go and watch it!

One of the best parts of having time to yourself is being able to watch films, don't you think?  With all of the time that we spend running around- and with all of the time that I spend in a taxi, or a bus, or a train, or on a plane- I really, truly love the ability to just pick out a film and watch it when I want- especially when it's a great one!  Believe it or not, netflix actually has a great collection of smaller, independent films available to watch instantly (yes!  instant gratification!!) and I love finding films to watch!

Somersault is a beautiful film about a young girl in Australia and her brief but intense mental journey inside a small, elite ski town in Australia.  Though the beginning starts out a bit light- you're not quite sure why Heidi actually does what she does- once you're let inside her head, it's pretty fascinating to watch the film unfold, as she runs along the patch of self destruction while falling in love... or what she thinks is love.

I haven't actually seen anything with Abbie Cornish in it before, andnow I want to see more!  Oh, and I have to admit- she's not the reasonI decided to watch the film... yes, I am shameless... I watched it forSam Worthington.  It wasn't enough for me to see him as a robot(Transformers) or as an Avatar.. I wanted more!  And if you want more, you won't be disappointed.  He's a great actor.  The two of themtogether are so pretty to watch!

Apparently, I'm not the only one- this film won a ton of awards, including a breakthrough actress award at the 2005 Miami Film Festival.

This movie is about love and loneliness, but it's beautiful.  I guess love and loneliness ARE beautiful, aren't they?
It is filmed on location in New South Wales, Australia, in a town called Jindabyne.  Oh my GOD is it gorgeous!!????!!!
The cinemetography is so overwhelming beautiful.  I don't think I will ever forget her red gloves.

I have always wanted to explore Australia and New Zealand- and this film just brought me closer to that journey.  In my head!
Seriously, though- one day I will have my walkabout!
