The Impossible Project: Polaroid FIlm, with a twist. And, the Impossible Collection. From the Netherlands!

Wow.
So I have a rather nice collection of Polaroid cameras- just a few, not too many.  Some may say that I have a rather strange obsession with collecting old cameras.. and then, never using them.  Isn't it strange, though, to think about what each camera may have seen in its lifetime?  Wouldn't it be wonderful to go through all of those photos?
Well, anyhow- I move too much and I just don't have enough room to show off all of my cameras.  More importantly, it's been rather difficult to find the FILM!  This applies, most importantly, to my old Polaroid cameras.  Ebay went mad when Polaroid started shutting down factories- and they closed them all, anyway.  All, except one- in the Netherlands- which was taken over by a person with a vision- The Impossible Project.

The factory is in Enschede, Netherlands- and the website is not only selling expired film (which is pretty awesome, as it still is functional), but they are also developing NEW film for the old cameras.  How cool, right?  Not only do they have a totally great, sci-fi name, but they are actually creating something new and innovative.  The new film, "Silver Shade," was just launched in March 2010.  I am TOTALLY going to try it out.  Though I may wait for the color version, out this summer.  Damn!  I wish I brought one of my cameras over!
Wait... maybe I can find a vintage one around here!!!

They have even created "The Impossible Collection" as a means to showcase the possibilities of the Silver Shade film, choosing artists from around the world.
I think I may need to visit this factory!  Do you think they have tours? (Click on the pic to go to the website!)

A few of my favorites from the Collection:

"The Shining"
Simone Frignani
Germany, 2010

Jessica Hibbard
USA, 2010

Beppe Bolchi
Venice, 2010
