Spoonflower Fabrics: Create your own design, print, and sew!
Today is the first day that I have been able to sit and finally sit down to write anything! It's been mad- traveling, touring, booking flights, canceling flights, changing flights- all of the fun aspects of being a global nomad and going to where you can find the work! The beauty of freelance...
This week in Amsterdam, we found a cute little store where the woman makes a simple shift dress for little girls, and sells it from her storefront. As the storefront is only open 3 days a week and is located in the Jordaan district, I must say that she has to be doing well! anyhow, she had some great fabrics, and we were talking about designing our own fabrics. So, a little research later, and I found Spoonflower Fabrics.
Thanks to the beauty of the internet and computers, now anyone can be a textile designer. It's pretty amazing- I had friends when I was at NYU who studied textile design at Parson's, so I think it is truly an art form. That said, why not give it a shot yourself, and see what YOU can create? Then go ahead and make a scarf, or a dress for your little one, or a hat for your dog. Whatever floats your boat.
The best part is that you can choose a bunch of different fabric types- organic cotton sateen, linen-cotton blends, and more! I'm ordering my swatch pack as soon as I'm back in the States!
Check it out- and when I design my own, I'll post it here!
