MoOOI... killing of the piggy bank!! Finally, a Delft blue item you WANT in your house!
Have you ever been to a total tourist trap? Because that's how it feels when you go to the Delft blue factory. Delft itself is a beautiful, almost unbelievable quaint, little town in Holland that is world renowned for its blue-hued pottery and hand painted designs. We were just watching the Antiques Roadshow of Holland and there was an older piece that was cracked and broken and went for over 20,000 Euros! Can you imagine? Starving children whaaa?
But I digress. I went to the Delft factory recently and was a bit overwhelmed by the extremely typical items and high costs.. until I saw this awesome Moooi design called "Killing of the Piggy Bank." Moooi, founded by Marcel Wanders, is a Dutch collective that just keeps on coming up with great designs! (not that this little piggy is a bargain- you may not have much to put IN the pig once you buy it! But it is ART!!)
We also happen to live behind one of his studios, so I have the pleasure of walking by often and staring in the windows. Ahhh... fun.
This weekend? I'll be visiting the store....
So check out this little piggy... and click on the logo for more MOOOI and shopping! P.S. mooi means pretty, or sweet, or cool in Dutch. you should totally work it into your vernacular!
