Bloomingdale's : The Plus Size Style Guide for Fall 2010 is here!!

Wow!

I have to say that I am impressed that Bloomingdale's really took the initiative and launched a serious plus-size "style guide!!!"

While it's one thing to announce to the world that you are going to carry "plus size" in your store (Saks- though many of the higher end designers will probably only go to a 18, but hey- that's a step!), it's something else to actually put a plus model on the front of your splash page on your website!
AND- they invested some serious coins, because trust me, Crystal Renn does not come cheap.  I DID notice that they didn't give so much love to the blonde... maybe they need a little Caroline in the house??!!

The thing is, it's so easy to fall into the plus size category.  It's like one jean size!  If you wear a 32 jeans- which, if you've ever tried on a pair of Seven Jeans, or J Brand, is NOT difficult- then you are a size 14 and officially plus size!  Considering the fit models at some of these denim companies must have teeny little thighs, that's not so much a leap for the average woman.  Then, if it doesn't fit, you get depressed, and either don't shop or just stick to dresses.  There are just not so many options- and I, for one, am happy to see that Bloomingdale's is giving the world a few more looks.  AND- hints on how to style as a plus woman.  YAY!

I picked my two fave looks- "military" and "leather and lace" are super cute.
When you go to the website, you can click on the photos and they will tell you the designers, etc.  What is also nice is that they have the shoes- like "extended calf" knee high boots.
All you little girls out there don't know that it can actually be quite frustrating to have a gorgeous set of calves!  All of that bike riding and walking and running can build up the muscles of a plus girl (remember, people- "plus" means above a size 6 in the model world!!!), making it a little difficult to find boots that she likes.  Hence, it's great to see the extended calf boot.

So, what do you think?  Is there a way to remove the stigma of the "plus" label and will people start shopping in stores more than online?  I hope so!!
