JIMBO'S I miss you... get me a beer and the ocean, pronto!!
Miami in the summertime can be a total bitch. I mean, seriously- it's hot, it's humid, it's raining and your electricity bill is going to be through the roof. Season is over, so I hope you saved enough during the busy times to get you through the slow times.. but you know what?
I love it.
The water is warm, the dolphins and the manatees are out in the ocean, and most of the crazy turistas are gone. It's just you and the other locals, riding your bikes, meeting up at the beach.. maybe stumbling into Deuce Bar on a particularly rowdy night.
And, if you're lucky, you may find yourself at Jimbo's.
I don't remember the first time I ever went to Jimbo's, actually (no big surprise there.. ummm...) but I have always had a special place in my heart for that beautiful piece of land on Virginia Key, strewn with trailers and drunks and visitors and locals. It's amazing. After dealing with the drama of South Beach and the craziness of $38 cocktails that smoke when they arrive at your table, sometimes it's just awesome to plop down $3 for a beer ($2 + a tip for your "bartender," who pulls it out of the cooler!)..
I've taken boats there, I've driven there, I've even taken my bike there with la Hez a few times. However you arrive at Jimbo's, just be sure you have someone to get you home!
Here are a few pics from this amazing piece of Miami... from Google images.. sorry, but Jimbo's is a place to be shared, not hoarded.. so I won't keep it for myself and I chose a few key pics....
Oh, and there's a WEBSITE!
Maybe I'll see you next year at his birthday party.. though I'm more likely to be there on a Wednesday, or a Saturday afternoon!!!
Click on Jimbo's head to take you to the website!

One of my favorite houses on Jimbo's land. I did a great shoot here with Kicka.
I literally cannot begin to explain how such a simple place can be so much fun.
And you ALWAYS make friends at Jimbo's!!!!!
Miami, I will always love you. You have my heart!!!
